Drury

This convention is played by the responder of an opener in the third or fourth seat after 2 or 3 passed hands and only when your partner opens a major.

opener:   1 Heart or Spade    responder:   2 Clubs shows 10+ points and a fit

opener's responses to his partner 2 Clubs bid:

  • 2 D - shows I have a minimum hand of 10-12 points only
  • 2 H/S - shows I have precisely 13 points.
  • 3 H/S - shows I have precisely 14 points.
  • 4 H/S - shows I have 15 plus points

If the opener has 20+ points and their partner is showing a minimum of 10 points then by playing Drury a "Slam" game could be possible. Investigate by bidding 4 NT in your response to their 2 Clubs Drury bid.
